Aquatic Weed Control

Found in most lakes and ponds, aquatic vegetation benefits ecosystems by providing aquatic organisms with food and cover, producing oxygen and stabilizing bottom sediments.  Unfortunately, many lakes and ponds develop too much aquatic vegetation.  This can not only interfere with your recreational activities and spoil your property's appearence, it can harm aquatic life.

The key is to control this vegetation, rather than to eliminate it.  McCloud uses herbicides — the most effective method of aquatic weed and algae control &mdsh; to restore balance to your property's ecosystem.  These products are EPA registered and labeled for use in aquatic resources.  They offer several advantages over mechanical methods, including longer-lasting control, less physical labor and lower cost.  In addition, herbicides can be applied under piers and docks and other hard-to-reach areas that other methods can't touch.

McCloud provides services for the following types of vegetation control needs:
  • Algae, including Chara (excluding some resistant species;
    i.e. Microsystis spp., Cladophora spp, Pithophora spp., Oscillatoria spp.)
  • Emersed plants (e.g., Cattails, Arrowheads, Am. Lotus, Waterlily)
  • Floating plants (e.g., Duckweed)
  • Pondweeds with floating leaves (e.g., American & Ill. Pondweeds)
  • Submerged vegetation
  • Terrestrial vegetation around shoreline
