Bed Bug Management Program

What Are Bed Bugs?

Bed bugs are small, reddish brown, flat-bodied insects about 3/16” long or smaller. These tiny pests are often found around mattresses, box springs, and nightstands, as well as behind headboards and wall voids. They’ll also seek refuge in the cracks and crevices of furniture, under floorboards, and even behind light switches and pictures on the walls. They hide during the day and come out to feed at night. Bed bugs feed on the blood of humans, small animals, or birds, and may live for months without feeding. Because of their tendency to “hitchhike,” bed bugs are frequently introduced into a home or business through furniture, luggage, or other items that have been in infested areas.

Let McCloud Services Help You Be Bed Bug Free

Bed bugs are rapidly infesting residential dwellings, multi-unit complexes, hospitals, hotels, dormitories, classrooms, offices, theaters, retail stores, and other commercial facilities. Because we understand how detrimental just one incidence of bed bugs can be, we implement our bed bug control procedures as quickly as possible after you contact us. Our comprehensive program includes:

  • A thorough initial inspection performed by our trained service technicians.

  • Application of appropriate EPA labeled pesticides by our licensed service specialists to areas of bed bug infestation, including bed frames, wall crevices, and baseboards.

How to Prepare for Bed Bug Treatment

In order to ensure our bed bug control is as effective as possible, we request our clients make preparations before treatment:

  1. Remove all bed linens, pillowcases, bed pads, curtains, and furniture covers and place these items in large sealable bags. Wash in hot water temperature above 120 degrees, and dry using the hottest dry cycle available. If items cannot be washed, placing them in a hot drier for at least 15 minutes will kill bed bugs (please make certain the items are dryer-safe).

  2. Empty closets, bedside tables, and bureau drawers in advance of inspection and treatment. Place items in clean plastic bags and tightly knot the bags.

  3. Make the room perimeter accessible for inspection and treatment.

  4. Remove pictures, clocks, posters, and other wall hangings for inspection and treatment.

  5. Remove extraneous items off the floor, especially in rooms where bed bugs are suspected.

  6. Make sure locked rooms and closets are left open for inspection and treatment.

  7. Remove all electrical outlet and light switch plates. Remove wall mounted lights, if present.

The more preparation done, the more effective the treatment will be. Little to no preparation will result in lesser control results, and may result in having to reschedule treatment until preparation is completed. If the area(s) to be treated are not prepared at the time the technician arrives and we must reschedule the treatment, a trip charge will be assessed. The effect of the treatment will be apparent in the first few days, with longer term control taking a couple of weeks or more (depending on pre-treatment preparations made and the size of the infestation).
